Did you know that one can go skiing in the south of Spain? Neither did I.

#NotAnotherSkiingPost

After my trip to Andorra and my new-found love of skiing, I was not going to pass up the opportunity to go away with the fabulous group of people I had been with in Andorra on ANOTHER ski trip! This time closer to home; no 18 hour bus journey for me!! We were off to Sierra Nevada, a mountain range just outside Granada, less than 2 hours away from Malaga. Continue reading

Me? Ski down a mountain? Snow way! – My trip to Andorra

This post is long overdue! Back in February, I was incredibly lucky to go skiing in Andorra. I was taken with Club Abadia Ski and Snowboard on their annual ski trip to Andorra for White Week – the Spanish version of mid-term break. Some of you may be asking “Where is Andorra?!?”, good question. Continue reading

Can You Be A Better Person? I know I can.

Yesterday I posted about the Love Has No Labels campaign and one thing I found was that I kept going off on tangents, tangents all over the place! So I decided to break it down and do a second post on one of the big tangents I went off on while editing the original. Enjoy.

One thing I have noticed recently is that this genre of video, website, blog, instagram account etc have suddenly become really popular. You often see these things trending – which is great! The photography blog Humans of New York is a perfect example, it contains heart warming stories as well as the very real struggles of individuals. One story recently took the world by storm Continue reading

Drag Queens and Confetti Screens

This is a bit late, I had written a draft and with one thing and another never managed to get round to editing and publishing the post! C’est la vie. So, two weeks late here we go:

Over the course of the last week Malaga has been celebrating Carnaval which ran from Saturday 7th to Sunday 15th. This meant that every day there were performances of plays, skits on the street and singing groups; with bigger events happening over the weekends. I never made it down during the week to see any of the smaller performances but what I did manage to see were some of the parades happening over the weekends. Continue reading

¡Quick, get me a drink!

If you get your butts to Malaga here are two bars you will not want to miss out on!

On Saturday I was lucky enough to be taken to Parador de Gibralfaro on the back of a motorbike. This is a gorgeous hotel/restaurant on a hill overlooking the city. To get there you have to endure a spectacular hillside drive, now my experience was made all the more enjoyable because we travelled there at sunset when the sky was painted the most amazing pinks, purples, blues and golds. Literally breath taking views. I cannot emphasise that enough. Continue reading

The Daunting First Day of School When You Are 24 Years Old

Today was my first day at school. Again. I started the beginner Spanish course for foreigners at the Escuela Oficial de Idiomas de Malaga. It started terribly. I´m technologically incompetent at times I managed to change the snooze time setting on my mobile either during my sleep or by simply hitting the snooze button when it went off. This meant that instead of giving myself the normal 5 minute grace period to fully wake up I instead allowed myself an extra 45 minute doze. So when I did wake up a certain four letter swear word crept out of my mouth and I flew between my room and the bathroom getting ready, firing a slice of peanut butter on toast into my mouth before running out the door and down to where the Boris bikes of Malaga are (I know they are called city bikes but I just like calling them Boris bikes). Of course my first post had to be about coffee

One thing that I have noticed since moving to Spain is the disparity between coffee culture here and that at home. The Spanish take pride in their food and drink, and rightly so. They invest not only money but time and thought as to how food should be served, what sort of atmosphere there should be and take culture norms on board when making any decision. As such, their coffee shops naturally follow suit. Continue reading
